SPEAR

SPEAR is Terry Parks’ concept for an energy- and passenger-efficient mass-transit system that carries people and their vehicles — essentially a non-track “freeway ferry” that runs on rubber tires over the paved roads we already have, within and between high-population regions. Cars, motorcycles, and even bicycles travel right along with their passengers.

By taking large numbers of slow, fuel-burning vehicles off crowded freeways and tollways, SPEAR is designed to ease gridlock, cut travel time and emissions, improve safety and quality of life, and preserve costly road infrastructure — potentially saving billions a year for drivers, taxpayers, and governments.
